About

Jeanne posing with a construction fenceJeanne Williamson combines printmaking, painting, collage, and sewing in her art work. She is very interested in working with monoprints of orange construction fences, and how they relate to nature, architecture, and to other construction fence patterns. Her work can be seen in galleries and museums all over the world, and in many books and magazines.

Quilt National 2005 book coverJeanne enjoys challenging herself as an artist. She has been working on her Orange Construction Fence Series since 2002, and plans on working on the series indefinitely. In 2005, Jeanne's "Orange Construction Fence Series #29" won Best of Show and the McCarthy Award at Quilt National 2005, and was printed on the cover of the catalog, Quilt National 2005 (Lark Books).

From 1999 though 2005, Jeanne made one small quilt each week, creating a grand total of 365 quilts. This project gave her the opportunity to experiment with different techniques and design. It also provided her with a time and place to be creative each week. In 2007 Jeanne worked on the 12 x 12 x 12 Series, which was a monthly series. In 2008, Jeanne is continuing the 12 x 12 x 12 Series, and is also working on a weekly mixed media series.

In her book, The Uncommon Quilter, Jeanne provides quilters, sewers, paper and mixed-media artists with 52 projects for creating their own unique quilts using everyday materials and found objects in each project. The book is divided by type of medium, including Plastic, Paper, Surface Design, and Fiber, and contains innovative ideas and clear step-by-step instructions for quick-to-stitch as well as complicated quilts.
